Members Spotlight: The Butchery Kitchen

The Butchery Kitchen expands their Feed a Family campaign to support their local community.

The Butchery Kitchen is an online butcher based in Blantyre, committed to selecting the highest quality meat and poultry.

The Butchery Kitchen have partnered with Barnardo’s to run a campaign called Feed a Family which is where they match customers donations each week  to deliver fresh meal kits to families in need across their local community.

In addition to this, Thursday saw the start of their FAMILY COOKING SCHOOL. The Butchery Kitchen will be running a series of cook-along sessions with local Barnardo’s supported families showing them how to make healthy and nutritious family meals with fresh ingredients and all the little shortcuts and chef tricks they've picked up along the way to ensure great flavours and delicious taste in every family meal.

They have spent the last few months gathering up equipment such as hot plates, mini stoves and cooking pots, mostly courtesy of our restaurant customers who have been happy to donated from their own kitchens or given a kind donation to allow them to buy what was needed to get started.

The intention is to ensure that by the end of each set of classes, every family has a handful of go-to family recipes they are confident in cooking and know how to make great use of whatever’s left in the fridge and cupboard.

If you can help in any way with donations to help buy ingredients, donate that spare pot from your kitchen cupboard or even give up a few hours’ time in the coming months to come and demonstrate your favourite go to recipe then they would love to hear from you.

Fresh, nutritious and healthy family meals that are simple to make and inexpensive to shop for will hopefully help many local families through what's increasingly looking like a tough winter.
