The Heron is a farm shop and café housed in a beautiful oak-framed building near Strathaven, South Lanarkshire.
Located on a sheep farm run by Angus and Emma Smith, and their young children Katie and Rory visitors can enjoy the beautiful sweeping views from the floor-to-ceiling windows and a cosy log burner in this welcoming country setting.
Provenance and seasonality.
The driving concepts of The Heron are food provenance and seasonality. A carefully-selected range of home-grown, local and Scottish produce is championed in the farm shop, with the Kitchen café offering a seasonal menu with home-cooked specials using farm shop produce.
The Kitchen team -including Emma - also produces its own range of delicious home-baked cakes.
Open 7 days from 9am to 5pm, breakfasts are served 9am to 11.15am, lunch 12pm to 4pm and coffee and cakes all day until 5pm.

The farm shop is housed in a beautifully relaxing oak-framed building and offers a range of fresh, chilled and frozen produce, allowing a full basket shop – so you really can eat local.
From home-reared and local meats, charcuterie, cheese and dairy to jams, chutneys, sauces, confectionery, cakes and bakery goods. The offering is varied and includes something for everyone.
A range of gifts and homewares are also on offer. The Heron has become a rural venue for people to meet, eat and shop, offering a traditionally warm, farmhouse welcome and quality produce in the farm shop and in the café.
